Overall Shorts

Happy Friday and cheers to the end of another fabulous week! Summer has officially begun in Canada yesterday on June 21st, and I don't know about you, but I have thoroughly enjoyed this week.

Since the weather has been cooperating a lot, I have been going out more, exploring different places, and experimenting with different outfits. And the best part is that I get to hang out and go on little adventures with my friends.

One of my favourite locations in Mississauga(my hometown) is this cute little bridge setting at the University of Toronto Mississauga campus. It's such a beautiful spot, no matter what the season is! I absolutely love the beautiful greenery around the bridge in the summer, but I also can't wait to show you guys all the amazing fall colours when September rolls around.

Moving on to my outfit, I recently got these overalls shorts from ZARA. They have quickly become my go-to outfit for summer and I will definitely be wearing them a lot! What I love the most about them, is that you can style them any way you want. They would look totally cool with statement shirts, v-necks or even plain shirts and since they are denim, they can be worn with any colour you can think of (grey, white, black, green, mustard,...). It is honestly the easiest thing for me to style, especially since I own so many basic tees and v-necks. I can pair the overalls with any one of them and it would create a brand new outfit.

For this outfit specifically, I am wearing a classic black crop top; it's a loose crop top, super soft and comfortable, and absolutely goes with the outfit! I have also styled this crop top in my last two blog posts:(1) Summer in Skort and (2) Paper Bag Shorts.

For the shoes, I couldn't not pair this outfit with my navy blue Stan Smith Adidas Original sneakers, that you also might have have seen in my previous blog post Paper Bag Shorts . I mean, they are my favourite pair of sneakers and they just look so good with anything denim.

P.s : For size reference: I am wearing a Small in the crop top and a medium in the overall shorts, and I am 5'7/171 cm for height reference.

Eid Celebration

Eid Mubarak to all my Muslim readers!
Eid is celebrated by Muslims around the world, and it marks the end of the fasting month, Ramadan. After fasting for a whole month (yes, not even water!) we celebrate Eid by eating lots of food (vermicelli,  cakes and our famous biryani), by wearing beautiful henna designs, visiting family and friends and most importantly, receiving/giving "Eidi". Eidi is a monetary gift that is usually given by the elders to younger relatives, and it's pretty much the highlight of my Eid!

If you didn't know what Eid was, well... now you do!

On this special day, it's very common (and recommended) to dress up in the most beautiful and fanciest outfits.  I don't normally dress up traditionally, so when an opportunity shows up, I go all out!

I tend to gravitate towards more simple and traditional looks. This burgundy and black ensemble is very special to me since it was a gift sent from Mauritius by my aunt. It's simple yet elegant, definitely the type of traditional clothing that I tend to go for. I guess, my aunt knows me very well!
The clothing is just one piece, and the black part is attached to the burgundy part. The simple pattern on the burgundy gives the ensemble a very elegant touch. The bottom part is kind of like a long skirt but since it's attached to the top, the ensemble seems to look like a dress.

I accessorized the ensemble with some gold statement and burgundy earrings and my high platform heels.

For my makeup, I attempted a smokey burgundy eye makeup using my Naked Heat palette, wing eyeliner from Sephora and my nude Kat Von D matte lipstick in "Hawkind" to go perfectly with the ensemble.

It was a beautiful day and I am so happy with how dreamy the pictures turned out! Let me know how you guys like it, and also if you would like to see more traditional outfits on the blog. Until then, I hope everyone had a wonderful Eid with all your loved ones. Stay blessed xx

Paper Bag Shorts

Summer is finally here in Canada, which means that I will be styling more summer outfits on the blog now. What I love most about summer outfits is the fact that I don’t have to wear several layers or coats, hiding the whole outfit.

A little backstory about this outfit: when I initially saw these shorts in ZARA, I immediately connected it to the paper bag version pants that I owned from Forever 21 and that I obviously had to have them. Go check them out on my previous blog post: Paper Bag Pants in Spring Blues and I will also be adding a photo at the end of this blog.

What I absolutely love about this pair of shorts is that they are very easy and so much fun to style. These shorts are so comfortable, flattering, adorable and really comfy. The bow tie at the front gives it a cute touch and it can definitely be dressed up or down. I wore it with a simple and classic black crop top, also from ZARA and my all-time favourite Adidas Originals Stan Smith sneakers.

Last but not least, I chose to wear this moon necklace that I have been obsessing about and pretty much been wearing every single day lately.

For size reference: I am wearing a Small in both the shorts and the crop top, and I am 5'7/171 cm for height reference.

Summer in Skort

I can't believe it's June already. It's crazy how the first half of the year just flew by. We did not really get to experience spring too much this year, because of how bipolar the weather was. So, you can understand my excitement when we found this little door in Kariya Park with the cherry blossoms painted over it.

For my outfit, I picked this skort (as in the shorts + skirt hybrid) from Zara. This trend from the 90s gives the feminine vibe of a skirt mixed with the carefree feel of shorts, and on top of that, it looks so cute. I fell in love with the side button detailing on it. It's a high rise skort, which made it super flattering on my body.

I chose to pair the skort with a  simple black cropped shirt, also from Zara. I threw on a blazer that my sister had. The blazer also had buttons, which worked really well with the skort. The blazer ties the outfit together and makes it unique and different.

For shoes, I went with my classic black Vans slip on. They just go with everything and they are so comfortable to walk around in. For accessories, I borrowed my friend's statement necklace.

For size reference: I am wearing S in both the skort & crop top
